This issue was amazing, the jokes mixed in with the storyline made this book extremely enjoyable. The best ones were about Tony the Tiger and bashing Spider-man always going on about great powers blah blah blah. Perez has the art work jumping off the page. The bomb scene between Rich and Sam especially comes to mind as a memorable one for this new relationship between the two. My only concern was for the novas being taken out rather easy this issue when these cats are mad powerful, but I do actually like when characters are given a limit to what they are invincible against. The real joy of the issue is the interplay between Sam and Richard, especially in their brief downtime and their telepathic conversation. It's such a great dynamic that it seems like it will inevitably be ripped away from them. But for now, it's a lot of fun! Read Full Review

This issue could have gone bad. Or at least come off as very tepid. But a major reveal midway through the book and some on-point fighting sequences lead me to be a bit more forgiving. This story wraps up solidly and sets up well for the next adventure. And the relationship between Rich and Sam is becoming a thing to be admired in super-hero storytelling. This is shaping into one of the best series any company is releasing right now. Sam Alexander and Richard Ryder have a great chemistry, and the story is fun and mysterious (what exactly is behind Ryder's resurrection?), and the art is stellar. And there is Cosmo. This is a great issue.

Sam absorbs life lessons from Rich while failing to note that the elder Nova has come back to life with horrifying eldritch powers. Something is clearly super duper wrong with Rich Rider, but we haven't really unpacked it yet. It's just one of many promising plot threads; too many stories advancing too slowly might be this book's one weakness. It certainly isn't the art, which is still superb.
