Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #3 keeps the focus on Kamala as a wholesome, sweet, likable character, but the Orchis plot and execution combine for a plot-holed riddled mess. This limited series has not veered from being a deliberate and thoughtful examination of who Kamala is as a person. She’s played many roles, been a member of many teams, and now has new (unrealized) powers, but none of that has ever changed the fact that at the end of the day she’s still Kamala Khan. Those hoping this limited series would be an action-packed adventure for Ms. Marvel X-Men beginnings, it’s acted more as a “reset” to ground us on Kamala’s maturation as an individual. The action will certainly come, but it’s been an absolute pleasure reading this beautiful ode to one of the best of the Marvel universe.

Every issue of this series has been a joy to read. I love the addition of Ms marvel to my beloved x-men. The only thing I didn't like was the realization that the next issue is the last. However I really look forward to seeing what this leads to.

While some of the dialogue and scripts aren't my favorite, I think this issue was written nicely overall. I feel as though it was at its best when being a little more serious and when speaking about Kamala as a character. Everything else was good as well, though. Kamala summoning her fan-fiction characters was kind of dumb, but in a good way, if that makes any sense.

The story is engaging and the art is excellent, particularly for a collaboration. Dr. Gaiha is developing into a solid, interesting antagonist, and we get plenty of good character insight into Kamala and her new status quo. The dialogue, though, could be a lot sharper. It's not particularly flawed at any point, just not as memorable as it could be.
