If there ever is a Moon Knight movie or streaming series, this story will have to be a part of the narrative. The real reward for readers " especially any long-time fans of this character " is that this creative team is clearly invested in establishing some plausible coherence to the various iterations and incarnations of the Moon Knight character over the character's long, complex history. THE GOOD: -The originality. This is one of the most risky, unique and original comics currently being published by Marvel or DC, and I have to appreciate it for that. -The writing. Never in a million years would I have believed Max Bemis would be the perfect writer for a Moon Knight comic, but he is. -The characterization of Marc. Excellent, excellent characterization and possibly the best exploration of his character that we've seen so far in this run -The return of Foolkiller! Honestly, I would say that Foolkiller is Max Bemis' best comic besides Moon Knight, so its great he's continuing the character, and he was used very well in this issue. -The end. I almost want the series to end here, this issue ends on such a perfe ct, beautiful, strong note. I loved the last couple pages and it concluded the story arc so perfectly. -The art. Jacen Burrows's art has just the perfect personality and unique style for a Moon Knight comic book. THE BAD: -Sadly, this issue is so unconventional, that sometimes its weirdness doesn't work. Sometimes it does take away from the reading experience. Still, not a major problem though. more

Marc Spector endures Ernst's sadistic gauntlet without help from his alters. I could tag a lot of negative adjectives onto the gauntlet scenes: pretentious, cringe-inducing, "clever" (those are super-sarcastic quotation marks), juvenile, and more. The art is fine on characters, weak on settings, and the "everything is purple-blue" coloring is ridiculous. Yessir, a lot of negatives. And they're ALL redeemed by the blockbuster Spector vs. Lockley confrontation at the climax. Almost. It's a breathtakingly brilliant moment. It would be just as brilliant if it were hitched to a lead-up that didn't flirt with unreadability, though.

Moon Knight is one of my all-time favorite characters but Max Bemis is run just isn't for me. I felt lost at multiple times during this issue and the Art's lack of backgrounds and detail look sloppy
