Comics Bulletin - Jason Cornwell
Nov 25, 2004Scott Kolins has been a favourite artist of my ever since his memorable run on the "Flash", so I'm delighted by the idea that he's lined up to be this book's regular artist, as in addition to bringing a highly detailed style, he's also proven to be a very reliable artist who is able to meet the monthly deadlines. If one needs any proof that Scott Kolins is the ideal artist for this title, than all one has to do is open the book to the first page, as the art captures the readers full attention with a single image. There's also a number of big impact moments from Spider-Man opening battle with the armed thugs, to the scene where Peter discovers there a mutant in his midst. However, the real selling point of this issue would have to be the battle between Spider-Man and Wolverine, as the scene in the alley made for a great display of Spider-Man's superior agility. Logan's escape was also well presented, as we see his adamantium claws straining against his adamantium skull. Read Full Review

Nov 15, 2004No doubt about it, MTU is a Scott Kolins showcase, and I would encourage you to buy the book if you in any way admire this artist. The story may not grab you, but the artwork should. Read Full Review

Well, back to the basics... I decided to make a stop from being an Image Comics fan and read this series. Mostly because there's an issue with Invincible, which takes place back in that arc I already read. But I'm also really interested to see what Kirkman wrote for Marvel back then. Some of his works were cool (Marvel Zombies), some are just mediocre (Ultimate X-Men), but so far this series looks promising. It was funny. There's not really much anything especially cool yet, but it's fine. I also love the art of Scott Kolins here. It's a bit too digital sometimes, but mostly good.
