In the throes of Damnation, Danny Rand faces old fears and even older friends, delivering a solid solo tie-in issue. Writer Ed Brisson and artists Damian Couceiro and Andy Troy really make this tie-in opportunity work for them and their take on Danny, successfully melding the weird kung-fu anachronism of Iron Fist to the magically and demonically inclined crossover. A weird fit, to be sure, but somehow it works. I know, I am just as surprised as you are. Here is hoping that Iron Fist can keep its winning streak alive once all the Vegas drama wraps up. So, Iron Fistis in a pretty strange place. It has not been solicited past issue #80, so that means the series is canceled and probably going to end during this crossoverwith Damnation. I have faith that Brisson can still end the series well as he has been doing a stellar job since the beginning. It is sad thatDamian Couceiro is only getting three issues. I would like to see more of what he can do with Iron Fist. Well, we still have at least two more issues to look forward to and, in issue #79, Danny Rand finds himself in a cage fight against a familiar face! Read Full Review

It looks like next issue should be the last in the hell-bound Las Vegas for Iron Fist and hopefully he'll be able to bring some semblance of normalcy to it before he leaves. If not maybe we'll get to see him do the flinging dragon snot and the unbalanced panda twist in one of his next fights. I really don't like forced tie-in's. I just wish that if we're going to have to have tie-in issues, do one to help introduce the main story. A bit more explanation as to what the heck is going on is all that's needed to elevate this book to at least a "fine" story. Please let these tie-in's be over soon. Read Full Review

Iron Fist #78 is unfortunately the weakest issue of the series so far. Its a decent tie-in to Damnation, but the flashback bogs down the comic. The action and character returns in the back half make up for it somewhat, but it still leaves roughly half a good comic. I can still tentatively recommend it to anyone following the series or generally a fan of Danny Rand. However, its not a must-buy. Read Full Review

Danny Rand is blessed with the first good Damnation tie-in. He goes through a Penance Stare fever dream and emerges to find Fat Cobra is just the first of the old friends waiting for him. The whole plot is outstanding, though the front half is a bit of a continuity wank. The art speaks to me. I prefer this expressive style, cartoony yet finely-detailed, to the photorealistic dross of previous issues by miles. It captures a deeper truth and speaks more clearly to who the characters are and what they're doing.

Pretty decent tie in. More directly related to Iron Fist than the damnation story which is pretty cool. The art remains a high point of this title.
