Guardians of the Galaxy #22

The meandering central plot is helped not only by the side stories, but by an extremely strong core cast of characters with some exceptionally talented creators. Its a book that really illustrates how important having creators who not only know what theyre doing, but are passionate about the characters as it can elevate otherwise mediocre material into goodness if not greatness. Guardians of the Galaxy would be great as a day-in-the-life style book, but it also shines when it goes big, which well hopefully be getting to soon enough. Read Full Review

Yes, its back to the month-to-month business as usual for the Guardians of the Galaxy this week, but its anything but status quo. This one is a whole lot of fun with a whole bunch of crazy thrown in and some interesting and intriguing plot ideas sprinkled on top. That sounds like a pretty good recipe to me. Read Full Review

I do have faith that Bendis will deliver on his promise in giving his readers a fun story arc, but right now it seems this is kind of a setup issue that will lead to a big payoff in the end. Read Full Review

Of course, if all you're looking for is pure symbiote-in-space action, issue #22 has you covered. Valerio Schiti again tackles the bulk of the art duties here, he and David Lopez combining for some awesome shape-shifting shootouts. Schiti shows a fine eye for choreography this go round, the book's constantly changing circumstances allowing for a number of arresting visuals, both in character and design. His design can veer a bit cartoony at times, especially with Rocket, but overall it's his great action pieces (and fun movie Easter eggs) that make this an issue worth reading. Read Full Review

The story itself isn't really much of one, and the planet mentioned in the title is still nowhere to be seen. Here's hoping that Bendis picks up the pace next issue. Read Full Review
