Guardians of the Galaxy #12

Sara Pichelli and Stuart Immonen make a terrific team with this crossover. Which is good, since Immonen steps in to render a couple pages of this issue. Both have very clean, vibrant styles that mingle well and prevent any sort of weird tonal shift from taking place. Pichelli still handles the lion's share of this issue, where her flair for expressive facial work comes in handy over and over again. I'm already salivating at the thought of one day owning this story in an oversized hardcover edition. This art deserves no less. Read Full Review

The team of Brain Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli never fails to impress. I'm not a huge fan of crossovers in comics as they just seem to be a method of getting people to read more comics. But the story is so fluid between the comics that it doesn't bother me. This could also be that I'm already reading both comics. If you are a fan of either creator or the X-Men or Guardians, I would definitely recommend picking this up. Read Full Review

The trial has begun, but with the X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy nearby, there's a possibility this trial of the galaxy could lead to more than a hung jury " if you know what I mean. Read Full Review

The setup has happened and we've just pushed through the half way point. Will we fall flat as the ‘Battle of the Atom' did or are we going somewhere astonishing? I'm hoping for the latter but only time (and a few more issues) will tell! Read Full Review

With two more issues to the arc it will be interesting to see how the writers resolve the conflict. Will the heroes simply rescue Ms. Grey, will Gladiator be forced to admit the woman he's judging isn't the same one who committed the atrocities, or will the intervention of an outside force (Jason? Brian Michael Bendis takes "The Trial of Jean Grey" into full-on soap opera territory in this one which makes sense considering the X-Men's involvement but sometimes he overdoes. Read Full Review

Once again, this isnt actually a bad issue, is just suffers a bit from too much history and having to kill time before the final act of this arc kicks off. Can you skip this one? Honestly, so long as having a hole in your collection and the risk of having missed a few tidbits before jumping into parts five and six of The Trial of Jean Grey doesnt bother you, yeah,you probably can skip this one without much worry. I wish that "Guardians of the Galaxy" #12 and "The Trial of Jean Grey" as a whole was working a bit better. This issue doesn't even have the snappy one-liners that the previous chapter did (I loved Iceman admitting he was talking to Rocket Raccoon because it made him feel like a Disney Princess), so what spark there once was is now curiously vacant. With two chapters to go, I suppose things could turn around, but for now this is a crossover that is all image and no substance. Very pretty image, though. Read Full Review

Great artwork, predictable story.
