Comics Bulletin - Shawn Hill
Mar 09, 2007A predictable Alan Davis comic is still a beautiful comic. He chose this ambitious amount of characters, and he doesnt stint on them, keeping track of nameless spandex suits as well as the heavy hitters. He also manages to use the title concept in a new way, as this isnt really the end of the team as we knew them. Rather, its been a look at what became of them after a particularly tragic ending, and how they got better eventually. This issue sees an end to their suffering, with hope back in the picture at last. Read Full Review

What the actual hell... This is such a chaotic series. What was the point in spending so much time to set up this "prelude to a war" only for Galactus to come and solve it like it was nothing? Why couldn't this series be focused on F4 trying to bring their children back? Why was it just a Sue's sub-plot? We get a tearful conclusion, but it doesn't really work. And Doom was insanely flat here. Pretty much everyone written by Davis was flat here, but Doom specifically. He was always evil, but not like this, at least when good writers used him. I mean, you begin the series with Doom, you end this with Doom, but he's just a dumb "I'LL KILL YOU" evil villain. Why couldn't there be a big master plan he had? He's F4's greatest enemy!
