I was really excited for this book when I saw it in the previews as these are two of my favorite characters! I felt the series was good but felt a tad off at times. There were some great ideas here and I did really enjoy reading it but both daredevil and echo felt off a little. I really enjoyed the flashback story though. Overall there was a lot of unique and interesting ideas in this but it had some rough patches. Overall it was pretty good with loads of potential for future ideas

I can tell the authors are going for mysterious and profound, and I don't have any objection to aiming for that tone. I wouldn't say they were particularly successful in hitting it. At least there's a rational read on the plot--the mysterious profundities can be dismissed as window dressing: "Matt saved the world and got resurrected. And also there was stuff with a fish-monster and poetry." The art takes an uptick, which helps keep this outside of trainwreck territory. The visuals deal with dreamscapes and cave-fights with equal aplomb.
