Daredevil #24

This issue is well organized, well written and features some really beautiful dialogue. It also does a fantastic job giving readers insight into what Daredevil is thinking and just how he is dealing with all of his problems. The result is a well written, really pretty comic with another interesting story. So, back to Chris Samnee. Dude's incredible. His knack for storytelling is unparalleled in modern comics. The transitions are damn near flawless and each page is laid out with a crisp and clear precision. The use of shadows, of light and dark, gives a rich depth to setting and characters. And, man, the hand-drawn sound effects are just the best. Few comics have even half the heart of a typical Samnee drawn issue of Daredevil. Read Full Review

Waid and Samnee on Daredevil is a fantastic collaboration, as effective as Fraction and Aja on Hawkeye. With so many comics being produced right now, and with money being tight for many people, the comics that people choose to spend their money on need to be close to perfection. There is an undercurrent of dread the entire issue, not only for Foggy, but because of the unrevealed mastermind behind the attacks. Waid reveals the villain to be some creepy manipulator locked in a sensory deprivation tank. The coming battle between a man who lacks senses versus a man with hyper senses should be pure Waid insanity. Waid is not just playing with the same pieces everyone else has over the past few decades, the Kingpins, Bullseyes, Elektras, and Typhoid Marys, he's adding to Daredevil's world, while finding unique threats from other places within the Marvel Universe. As Matt Murdock must face a very personal struggle with Foggy's cancer, Waid is making sure the external threats are ones neither Matt nor readers have experienced before. Read Full Review

In this issue Mark Waid reminded me why I hate waiting a month to read the next issue of my favorite comics. It's both horrible and wonderful as it means my interest in this series has shot right back up to high priority. Simply, I want to know who the hell is behind everything and how it all ties together. With all of this being said, Daredevil is easily one of the best titles out there simply because the line between Murdock and Daredevil essentially doesn't exist. This creates some very natural drama and tension in the series, Daredevil #24 especially. So if you've been picking this series up for a while, awesome! You have good taste. If you've been thinking about getting on the Hornhead train, Daredevil #24 is a good jumping on point; because after this, it's going to get crazy. Read Full Review

As I said, the plot didn't really move forward much until the last page, however this was still an utterly enjoyable issue.If you have been enjoying the series then you will more than likely enjoy this issue too. The action may have been toned down, but the writing was just as good as ever. I find it a shame though that Waid can't seem to recreate his form here on his Hulk book. A Hulk book written like this would be awesome. Oh well, never mind, this Daredevil is more than enough for me. Read Full Review

"Daredevil" #24 is an issue that shows Waid and Samnee know exactly what they're doing. They are controlled, well metered and precise with every scene. This issue covers the many layers of the world, whether it's old school bromance, superhero buddies, possibly unrequited love or high stakes action. The only real action we get is a gift basket sent to Nelson & Murdock by Daredevil's unseen enemy containing blind hyper-sensitive dogs who nearly destroy the entire office. It's a fun, though certainly not action-packed, issue which fans of the character should enjoy. Worth a look. Read Full Review
