The Captain America Finale does everything that the book set out to do as it wrapped up Steves battle with the Outer Circle. While the series could have gone on a little longer, the amount of story, action and intrigue that Jackson Lanzing, Colin Kelly, Carmen Carnero, Nolan Woodard and Joe Caramagna were able to capture was absolutely stellar. With this epic ending, fans can rest easy knowing that Steve Rogers will always and forever fight for freedom, even when the odds are stacked against him. Read Full Review

Captain America Finale #1 ends the series as a perfect encapsulation of the series as a whole a little bit of good, a little bit of silly, and a whole lot of uneven mediocrity in between. Carnero's art is the clear highlight of the finale, and the ending ties up most of the loose ends, but it's time to move on to bigger and better things. Read Full Review

This would have been a triumphant finale--if it weren't for the story derailing so badly in the Cold War crossover. This issue is stuffed with gorgeous art and terrific dialogue. It wraps up all the loose ends and springs a few nice surprises while the good guys dispose of the Outer Circle. But the crossover revealed just how thin and flat the Outer Circle was. The authors admit as much in their adios letter: The Circle was created to contrast the traits they wanted to explore in Steve and Bucky. They're not an intricate Hickman-style conspiracy with interesting motivations; they're not a squad of visually fascinating combat monsters like the Black Order or the Ashen Combine. They're just foils for the heroes to hero against. Still , I'll hew to my principle of judging each issue on its own merits as best I can. I can't call this great, but I'll admit it's good. (Although if somebody would explain to me HOW THE @#$% the cat killed the Money, I'm all ears.) more

Not a bad finale by any means, but I was a little disappointed how easily the Outer Circle were all defeated. It has a nice ending however.

Carmen Carnero is an awesome artist that elevated this book beyond where Kelly and Lanzing had it. They initially set up the story with such high stakes and epic fanfare but in the end the outer circle running a 100 year game in full control defeated in the easiest way possible. The problem is every point where this story is supposed to get you onboard was a letdown. For example anyone can see that Bucky hasn't turned on Steve and was doing exactly what you'd expect. If this is your first espionage comic or first Captain America comic then yeah it's good but with the back drop of what came before it, it's not up to the standard. I mean you had Bucky with Steve blessing drop Wulfgang Fortunov at Dr. Doom's door and act as if you didn't kill him....alright cheerios our hands are clean and Cap is still the good guy YAY! Problematic. Props to Woodard for the amazing colors all around and especially how he made Nomad's skin and bucky's arm really different. more
