Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #7

Sentinel of Libertyhas been, from the start, a force to be reckoned with. The book only gets better with each issue and you can tell this creative team adores the characters they are getting to write. For Captain America fans, this series is once again an absolutemust-buy and if we're lucky, Lanzing, Kelly, and Carnero will get to spearhead more Captain America books in the future. Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty kicks off its second arc with Cap bringing in his own allies to fight The Outer Circle. It's a nice reminder that Cap still has plenty of friends who are (almost) as well connected as the grand conspiracy that has been pulling society's strings for the last 100 years. Read Full Review

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #7 follows up the heartbreaking conclusion to issue #6 with a lot of moping, a little progress, and a big cliffhanger that comes out of nowhere. The art is solid, but the writers are putting too much burden on readers to stay invested in a largely listless and boring story. Read Full Review

This continues to be a near perfect captain america book. The writing is phenomenal focusing on emotionally and morally driven character moments. I also find the outer circle to be fascinating and am excited to learn more about them. Finally bonus points for the inclusion of black widow she is one of my all-time favorite characters.

This book is a mess just like the other Captain America title but at least this is a mess with a very big heart. The beautiful art doesn't hurt either.

It's a very solid episode in an ongoing story that still has a hook deep in me. The art's good and the prose is even better; this is finely crafted work. On the plot front, though, things are a bit pro-forma and step-by-step; this is merely the connective tissue required to get from #6 to #8 in a logical fashion. Which hardly makes this less than a good comic -- but it is the main reason it's not quite a great one.

It's fine as a story but the Outer Circle is just not the big bad that the writers think they are. The main thing to keep up with this book is the Carmen Carnero art that is simply phenomenal 10/10. Woodard's colors here only make it look even better and I like his play with greys and colors in certain pages.

The ending had me intrigued, but I'm not falling for it. I struggled through Coates' run and told myself I can't do it again. I love Cap, but I'm hopping off. There is nothing exciting about this book. It's just campy dialogue and a dull adventure.
