Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #11

Lanzing and Kelly are certainly still having fun in their sandbox, but Carmen Carnero's pencils are not to be overlooked. She was certainly a great artist on Hellions, which was undoubtably one of the best books of the Krakoa era, but she's really letting her creativity soar to new heights with Sentinel of Liberty. Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #11 ends the major conflict against the Outer Circle (for now) with a big ol' “meh.” Carnero's action sequences are great, but the fight ends with a minor victory that doesn't truly resolve anything. It feels like the conclusion goes soft as a setup for better things in the next event, which is a poor excuse for an ending. Read Full Review

I can't praise this book enough. It is consistently great. It manages to tell a compelling, thrilling, heartfelt story while still being full of outlandish comic-booky things that we all love. The art is great, too. I am super excited to see what Cold War brings us. Both Cap titles are well worth your time, and so this crossover has nothing but good things to stand on. This book is solid even when I'm not completely sold on the premise of this outer circle and the starpoints and all that but I love the way Steve Rogers is writed here and all the other chars. I just wish this "cold war" event is more about giving nuance to Bucky Barnes and his relationship with Steve.

It's a thoroughly satisfying finale for the arc. Big wins, but tempered with some heartbreak. The language is simple but realistic and powerful. The art remains excellent, though the polish and posing are slipping ever so slightly. Carmen Carnero deserves a break after the tour de force performance she's put in on this title, though.

It's a good Cap book and the art from Carnero is phenomenal with Woodard's beautiful colors. I wish I cared more about the outer circle narrative and that's the holding obstacle. I wish Kelly and Lanzing did a better setup. They went too big and You'd have to erase so much canon, history and use so much disbelief that it bogs the story down. It's enjoyable when you erase those elements. I keep reading mostly because Carnero is a master of her craft.
