Black Nerd Problems - Keith Reid-Cleveland

Issue #16 is a great diving in point for anyone interested in learning more about Misty Knight's history. Not only does it offer a concise summary of her past affiliations with a variety of superhero team-ups, but it touches on her relationship with Danny Rand, proves that her investigative skills are top notch, proves that she can do with either her bionic arm or her organic one, and gives her plenty of scumbags to beat up on in the process. One thing I have been liking about the Sam Wilson title over the Steve Rodgers is that Spencer is able to have a little fun here and there. This is one of the fun books. Like the last issue focusing on D Man, this issue focuses on Misty as she takes control of the hotline while Sam is on vacation. Spencer did a good job of including a relevant issue with a comic book twist. Like many of the other issues in this series it brings back some characters from the 90s. Spencer is obviously a fan of the titles history and that is what makes this an interesting series.

I enjoyed this issue as a close-up of Misty Night. Her narration and the look at her past was fun. It would have been better had she faced a real threat instead of the cheesy Slug with his silly ploy to exploit women; Misty is painted as a real badass, but Spencer throws her at a third-rate foe. I did enjoy the glimpse of Rosario Dawson/Claire.

Misty Knight gets a little one shot here and its fantastic. The art is great, the story moves along nicely and the way Spencer has portrayed Misty as such a badass really pays off here. Misty Knight is a total babe and if you dont know much about her check her out in this title.

Nice one shot for Misty Knight! But since it's a Sam Wilson book and he's leaving the shield around like it's purpose is propping up a wall it gets a lower rating.
