Black Widow #14

Black Widow is not a character you want to mess around with. Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto are showing us exactly what she is made of. With an evil organization targeting her, she's turning the table around and taking the fight to them. The results are glorious moments showcasing what she can do. Each of these fourteen issues have consistently delivered great story and art. It's not often a series can maintain this kind of momentum. BLACK WIDOW is a series everyone should be reading. This is exactly what I would want a Black Widow movie or television show to be. It has a great supporting cast that really humanizes Natasha and doesn't make her seem so alone, although she really is. Phil Noto once again delivers some gorgeous art. The camouflage scene early on was particularly well-done, as was another one later where she goes undercover in a sort of a classic spy-situation. The true poignancy of the artwork is never lost in the shuffle, and as always, the action scenes really do stand out in the second half, once Natasha deals with the CHAOS agents on a cruise ship and is looking to escape. If you're not reading this series then we can't be friends. This is honestly one of the best series out, which is refreshing as so many have been huge let downs. With Secret Wars coming out, I really hope Natasha makes it through. They're talking that with some characters not going to make it through the event, their respective creative teams know they could be moved to new books. Edmondson and Noto are the Black Widow dream team and I'd hate to lose either of them. Guess we will just have to wait and see, but pick up all the Black Widow you can until then! Read Full Review

This girl scares the shit out of me! She's so threatening she always gets the answers she desires, but at some cost. This Chaos organization, although kinda unoriginal, looks dangerous like hell and it won't be an easy enemy for Natasha to defeat. Meantime, she's trying real hard and got some points right. Under an artistic point of view, the pencils are a little low this month, but hardly so when your name is Phil Noto. What really gets me here is Black Widow's personality and psychological insight: she doesn't belong.

This was the issue where I decided to give up on the Black Widow. I had faith until this issue in which she kidnaps Senator David Levine, threatens and tortures him for information. He's not a super evil guy, just an accountant caught up in something out of his control, and he explains to her his predicament, that Chaos threaten his family and friends with unspeakable torture. Under duress, he co-operates with her and gives her some valuable information. In return she murders him by kicking him, like a dog, out of an airplane after finding out that he didn't know how to use a parachute. He would have died scared and betrayed, wondering why she had to murder him after he'd played ball with her. Did he really have to die? Coul d she not have pulled the parachute cord for him, or taken one lousy minute to explain how it worked? No, instead she had to murder a defenseless man, a thrill kill for her. The reason why I'd got into the Black Widow is because I believed that she wanted to right the wrongs of her past, to atone for previous sins. This episode shows that she's still the same murderous character she always was if she thinks she can get away with murder she will. Final thought on this: were we supposed to find it funny that the Senator died in exactly the same place she kidnapped him from? Haha, great writing, creative team. "I'm a killer not a murderer" - No Natasha, you're both; an absolutely disgusting for a so-called Marvel "Hero" to behave. The Avengers should not ever take her back as a member. So much for "trying to atone for her sins". Yeah, right. Even the cover shows the sadistic enjoyment she has in capturing these men and relishes them fearing for their lives. more
