‘Black Panther' continues to disassemble its title character stripping more away from the former king as he comes to grips with his own sins while dealing with the threat of the almost comically on-the-nose Colonialist. The Buffalo Soldier is working with the alien-invading Colonialist, but he and T'Challa spark up a conversation on what it means to be truly free. Black Panther #10 ends the bizarre conflict with the Colonialist with a boilerplate action comic. Between the history lessons, Fake News references, politician jabs, and 1984 quotes, the Avengers fight a powerful alien and win with the help of a superhero science machine. I liked this more than the first part. I feel as though the gripe I talked about in my review of Issue 9 was improved upon a bit here, and I just found Ridley's to be better this time around. One thing I didn't mention in my review of the last issue that I should have is Peralta's art. I think he did a really good job in the previous issue and he did so again here. In my opinion, it was a great decision to make him the main artist going forward.

The art looks even better than the previous issue (more dynamic in the action panels), and the Colonialist story wraps up with merciful quickness. It did offer a few little glimmers of insight into T'Challa's character and challenges, but on balance it was a "not ready for prime time" premise. If you can't catch a thing like that in early drafts, shutting it down as rapidly as possible is probably the next best way to deal with it.
