Geeked Out Nation - Jideobi Odunze

    Feb 19, 2015

Avengers World #17 is perfect in so many ways. From the story to the art you feel the emotion pouring from thee two people as we find out how that baby came to be. Valentine's Day may have been last week, though if this issue came out before that day, surely this moment here would have made the list for Geeked Out Nation's most memorable romantic scenes. Comicosity - Jessica Boyd

There will be plenty of readers without the patience to hop aboard a new superhero series, especially one so deep into a crossover. However, cursory fans of the Marvel Universe or people looking for a different portrayal of super-couples in love should immediately pick up this issue. It provides and emotional buy-in and character development that can be hard to find in a single background story. No additional information is needed about this group of Avengers missions before this issue. You know they have been busy and are getting a moment to deal with life. Add onto that plenty of action and explosions, as well as some saucy space pirates, and you've got a recipe for fun and love. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Jeff Marsick

The dialogue seems written with a studio audience in mind, and with Corsair declaring his crew has arrived ""on a mission of love," he's a space pirate as imagined by Nicholas Sparks. Read Full Review

AWESOME. Characters are written perfectly (Guthries talking about powers like it's normal, Corsair living in the moment, Mentor not believing Sam beat Gladiator! That was funny.) Sam has a problem and goes to an Avenger first, then a former New Mutant, they really got Cannonball right in this issue. I was wondering how they were going to bridge the gap between now and "8 months later". One issue per plotline is the perfect way to do it. Art is good too.

Now we're finally getting back to the plot. While not exactly Hickman proper, this is a very nice change of pace after all that Axis nonsense. The art is amazing and Barbiere is actually a good writer. I've never heard of him outside that New Avengers annual and this series. I will definitely see what else he's done once I'm finished with this.

It's good enough, but since it's future and Secret Wars is coming, it just feels like a What If?
