  (Cover Date: September, 1987) Summary: When Thor hits the ball through the roof of the Astrodome during the WCA/ECA softball game, the Silver Surfer enters to warn them that one of the Elders of the Universe has planned to kill them. The WCA's find that the ECA's have all died from an Elder's energy bolt that arrived simultaneously with the SS. SS takes the WCA's in their quinjet to the Collector's spacecraft. The Collector tells them that the shade of the Grandmaster offered the Avengers to Death in exchange for his life. The Collector gives them a poison to drink so that they may enter the Realm of Death. They all die, except for Espirita, who the Collector adds to his collection. In the Realm of Death, the Grandmaster tells the ECA's that the Collector offered the WCA's to Death in exchange for immortality. The Grandmaster tells the ECA's to subdue the WCA's before Death can claim them. The ECA's & WCA's battle each other one-on-one. SS finds Death & asks her to restore himself & the Avengers to life since the doings of the Elders should not be of concern to her. Death reveals her face to the SS. The WCA's win their duels 4-3 & assemble in front of the Grandmaster. Death appears before them, bounded. The Grandmaster says his plan to get Death involved has succeeded.
