The Avengers deactivate the Awesome Android, but not before they receive a distress call from the Fixer's former ally, Mentallo. The team discovers that it was Super-Adaptoid, and not Fixer, who activated the Awesome Android.

(Cover Date: January, 1988) Summary: After the Avengers receive a mental call for help from Mentallo, the team goes to the Fixer's warehouse hideout & battle through his defenses. Mentallo tells them that the Fixer's mind is something alien. After delivering the Mad Thinker's giant android to Hydrobase Island, they find the real Fixer inside the containment tube for the Super-Adaptoid. The "Fixer" contacts Machine Man, promising the return of his lost love in exchange for his assistance.
