  Count Nefaria decides to eliminate the Avengers for interfering with his Maggia operations in the US. He invites them to his castle & puts them in a trance where he makes images of them. The images go to the Pentagon to declare that they are taking over the US. Once they leave Nefaria's castle, the Avengers are attacked by the US military. After fighting them off, they go back to the castle to confront Nefaria & then must deal with the traps he has waiting for them. After Nefaria is captured, one Avenger is left critically wounded.   I seem to have liked the first 12 issues more than most, but even I admit this one was a miss
