The script comes out of the tall grass to deliver a good finale. Amadeus learns and grows, the Pan conflict ends satisfyingly, and wonder of wonders, Namor goes for non-violent conflict resolution. Nice art and added narrative focus help this series pull up a bit for the last chapter. The cast is still way too big, though: Part of why this issue works is that it doesn't even pretend to be anything other than the Amadeus Show.

I took a gamble by reading this before King in Black #1, and I definitely chose wisely. This has almost nothing to do with King in Black. If you're thinking of getting it for the sake of reading King in Black tie-ins, you shouldn't. The tie-in is literally the last two pages, and all it is is that Knull is here and the Agents of Atlas are going to help Namor fight him... To be continued in King in Black: Namor. As for this issue as a conclusion to this miniseries and the story Greg Pak has been telling through various miniseries and back ups... It was fine. Nothing really ended unexpectedly. There's plenty of room for Greg Pak to continue his story, but I honestly wouldn't mind if he didn't. This issue is fine. This story is fine. That's all it amounts to. more
