Comic Book Resources - Timothy Callahan

If you can get past the ridiculously high price for so few story pages, you'll find a lot of interesting ideas and fantastic visuals packed into this comic. But its brevity adds to its feeling of incompleteness, and I don't know what Ellis has planned for the second (and final) issue, but I hope it does more than just provide intriguing windows into alternate superhero realms. Most glaring of all is the fact that neither story carries much of an X-Men flair. Switch out a few familiar faces and the stories could easily be taking place in another Ellis book like Planetary. Is that all Ellis' Astonishing run is going to amount to - a series that seems culled from unused plot points in other books? It's okay, definitely better, than the original story arc. A series of what ifs related to first Astonishing story arc of Ellis. It just lacks depth or something. Could be better. But it was great to see Adi Granov, by the way.
