I like Azacetas work. This is not typical Spider-man fare, but it worked for this storyline. He didnt give the work too much crime noir angle. Instead, we saw overtones of dirty and compulsive design featuring compulsive characters. Its a shame the story was not up the quality of the art in this story. Read Full Review

"The Gauntlet" continues next month, with the return of yet another of Spidey's old enemies. (The whole premise of "The Gauntlet" is that these musty old characters get "leveled-up" to challenge the web-slinger as part of a larger, devious, supervillain scheme.) I don't know that Waid and Azaceta really made Electro much more interesting than he used to be, but it was fun watching them try. All-in-all, this is a solid issue of what has become a dependably enjoyable series over the past two years. Read Full Review

The cliffhanger was excellent and brings this first act to a nice close while kicking the doors wide open for the next chapter. It will be interesting to see just what the baddies have planned and how they will go about attempting to achieve their goal. Even with the previous high and low points I really hope that these new players on the board raise not only the stakes but also the story. Read Full Review

Only good thing I can really say about this issue is that this story is over. Oh, and the political meta nonsense from previous issues was toned down/restricted to the opening part of the story, so I guess that was good, too. Read Full Review
