Jul 30, 2004The lumpy figure work that Spider-Man suddenly gains when he puts on the spandex has me wishing Mike Deodato Jr. would crack open a book on the human form, but I have to also give him full marks for a wonderful one-page shot of a sideways Spider-Man racing toward the reader, and the big explosion panel is also pretty solid. I also have to give the art full credit for its work on the out-of-costume moments, as there's a great quiet moment between Peter and Mary Jane. Aug 05, 2004Fresh, intriguing, and well-drawn, this new direction has the potential to be as memorable and thrilling as JMS first Morlun arc, which he hasnt equalled since. Aug 06, 2004The writing carries this issue, and its a good thing that Straczynskis writing is so strong, as Deodato Jr is terribly unsuited to this comic. This isnt bad by any means, and Im sure that my opinion of the art isnt a common one, so I wont let it affect my score. Straczynskis taking Spider-Man in an interesting direction, and the art doesnt detract from thattoo much. Read Full Review

Aug 04, 2004Another interesting twist the Sins Past storyline, however it appears that this entire arc could easily fall into boring and pointless ground. The issue is solid enough and does further the overall plot, however there really isnt anything that would attract the attention of a non-Spidey fan. Read Full Review
