Amazing Spider-Man: Halloween Special #1 is a charming seasonal treat that captures the fun of Halloween through inventive superhero antics and delightful comic strip homages. Justina Ireland and Mike Hawthorne deliver an entertaining Hallow's Eve adventure, complete with clever uses of her costume-based powers, while Ty Templeton brings spooky humor to the Sinister Six. Lee Gatlin's hilarious, newspaper-strip-inspired backups are the real highlight, offering plenty of nostalgic fun for older readers. The main story moves a little too quickly at times, but this is an excellent all-ages comic that's easy to recommend. Read Full Review

The Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Special #1 is a colorful and spooky addition to the Spidey-verse this holiday. The story is compact, yet manages to pack a lot into its pages. Ireland, Hawthorne, Von Grawbadger, and Caramagna have provided a new holiday classic that can be read by anyone regardless as to whether or not they are current on The Amazing Spider-Man. This is a must read for anyone that is looking to make this haunted season a bit more spooky. Read Full Review

As backups, we’ve got a whimsical story from Lee Gatlin about Sinister Six trick or treaters, and Ty Templeton bringing Peanuts style gag strips to the Marvel Universe. I’d honestly read the Templeton stories more than the actual main universe ones. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man: Halloween Special #1 is a great showcase of Spider-Man’s character. I like him in simple, character-driven stories that highlight his compassion for civilians and his adversaries. Ireland understands this well, and she is joined by a spectacular team of artists to tell a fun story that stands by itself. This one-shot is an awesome seasonal story that should remind fans why we read comics. At the end of the day, comics are supposed to entertain. What’s not entertaining about Spidey shooting candy and spiders out of his webshooters? Read Full Review
