    (Cover Date: August, 1987) Summary: MJ turns down Pete's marriage proposal & leaves to see her sister in Pittsburgh. Alistair Smythe sends his new Spider-Slayer to kill Spidey for crippling him in their last encounter. Spidey is saved by a bulldozer driver after the Spider-Slayer gases him. Spidey inflicts additional damage, but the Spider-Slayer gets away. MJ calls Pete to come to Pittsburgh after encountering an unseen person in her sister's house. After repairing the Spider-Slayer, Smythe tracks Pete to the airport & finds out that his plane has departed for Pittsburgh. Smythe decides to follow him there.
