Summary: Alpha Flight sees a rose growing out of the frozen tundra, clearly a sign of magic. They seek the Fountainhead to cure Northstar & Aurora of their afflictions. Box drills down to find the source of the magic & finds the Viking village. They are watched by Loki, who is angry at them for not accepting his gift of godhood due to its price (see X-Men / Alpha Flight LS). Loki decides to direct some mischief toward them. Alpha Flight goes down the drill hole & finds the former location of the Firefountain, which is no longer there. Aurora finds a golden faerie gate at the bottom of the chasm. They open the gate & go inside. Loki changes the runes on it back to their evil forms. Loki inflicts a fe
ver on Northstar so that he is no longer able to go with the others. Aurora decides to stay by his side, even in the dark. The team finds a black firefountain in another chasm. They are attacked by dark elves. Puck is knocked off of a walkway into the black firefountain, which changes him back to his normal size but releases the demon Raazer that was inside him. Northstar & Aurora are confronted by Loki & darklings. Loki shows them how their father met their mother, a Light Alfer elf, & were married. After they were born, their parents were pursued by Light Alfers, which led them to dying in a car crash that the infants survived. After Loki leaves, they are attacked by the darklings. Aurora decides to give Northstar all of her light to cure him. The darklings take Aurora away while Northstar is fighting against them. The rest of AF is confronted by Raazer, whose scimitar drains away lifeforce, & dark elves. Northstar arrives to stun Raazer with his light. Overwhelmed, the team flees to the gate & closes it per Heather's orders, even though Puck & Aurora have been left behind. Back on the surface, Northstar flies off & the gate to Alfheim opens to admit him. Loki finds himself in front of We Who Sit In The Shadow to be judged for taking revenge against Alpha Flight. In his defense, he tells them that he did them good. Aurora was cured of her multiple personalities & taken to a place where she will find peace. Now cured, Puck was sent to Tibet, a place he loves. Told that he is returning to Asgard, Loki instead finds himself faced by Raazer & the dark elves (as a lesson for changing signs). On the flight back to Tamarind Island, Heather ponders what has occurred to AF under her leadership, but decides that she is in the best position to lead the team.
