A nice departure from what has come before.  There's never a bad time for a fun one-off adventure with a couple of the X-Kids.  Enjoyed the story, however at times the dialogue felt a bit too precious in its attempts to be hip.  Bagley's art never fails to impress.  It cannot be stated enough, we need more issues like this... and less that are entwined in endless crossover. Still, great art and strong writing make this a series to watch. (But I'd like it better with fewer demons.) Read Full Review

All-New X-Men unfortunately got sidetracked with the editorially mandated crossover. Here, Hopeless is allowed some breathing room to flesh out his characters but regrettably, the portrayal of Laura, who's the issue's focal point, is too inconsistent with her solo series. The rest of the book makes for an enjoyable read, however with the looming Marvel NOW imprint in the horizon, this book is going to be cancelled. It'll be interesting to see how Hopeless plans to end this and fingers are crossed it doesn't disappoint. Read Full Review

Though the Laura/Warren romance is a major focus here, it's actually the Laura/Scott dynamic that stands out the most. The two have developed an entertaining friendship under Hopeless' hand. Read Full Review

All-New X-Men #12 is on par with the rest of the series, it's an OK book if you already like the characters here. But at the same time Hopeless is taking a lot of time building up the team, as a reader figuring out who gets featured on each issue is basically a wild guess. Read Full Review

Hopeless tries to save the godawful Wolverine/Angel romance, and fails miserably at it. Not only does he fail to provide a workable explanation for her OOC behavior thus far this series, but what he DOES give just revisits plot points that were resolved by Liu a long time ago. The "understanding" that Laura and Warren reach also rings hollow, and if this were a real-life relationship Warren's behavior would be recognized as outright abusive. The one bright spot is the interaction between Scott and Laura. Unfortunately, it just serves to highlight how much better chemistry these two have, and that this would have provided a far more genuine and natural relationship.

The Warren/Laura relationship and the explanations around Laura's behavior is so bad no reader really buys it.
