An American Superhero Story is a chaotic mix of dark comedy and gore. The story follows Tom Wiseau, an ordinary man with ordinary problems, desperately trying to find his wife in the ruins of a shopping mall in the middle of an apocalyptic battle between two superhuman factions of opposing ideologies.

Dragged into the epicenter of this bloody nightmare, Tom must navigate a gauntlet of caricature-like, insane god-beings.

Far more than just a sharp political allegory, Too Much Blood is a story about forgiveness and the urgency of holding on to the ones we love before the end.

Too Much Blood: An American Superhero Story has ideas, attitude, and a wonderfully unsettling visual identity. Gabriel Halsmans isn’t afraid to put the whole superhero establishment on trial, and the black-and-white artwork gives this political nightmare its own flavor. The heavy exposition, uneven pacing, and occasional stiff storytelling keep it from hitting every target, but there’s enough bite here to make the experience worthwhile. This one’s for readers who like their superhero fiction cynical, confrontational, and willing to get its hands dirty. Just don’t expect anybody to come out smelling like roses. Read Full Review
