Aug 30, 2026Nordlys takes a lot of inspiration from Nordic mythology, but there are also many similarities to Peter Pan, and I love the spin on classic fairy tales. Falch has created a new fantasy world that also somehow seems familiar with features that we know and love from other stories -- like friendly talking animals -- but new and beautiful things -- like cute magical dragonflies. Espen comes with a rag-tag group of "lost folks", and everyone knows their usefulness. Like with many children's stories, the motivation of the villain is slightly unclear at this point and he seems to be acting mostly as a foil for Espen, but hopefully he gains some more depth as the story progresses.
