Despite the slight misstep in handling the stars of the issue, The Walking Dead #134 is an enthralling read. With action on nearly every page, character development, and a promise of consequences moving forward, there is a lot to be excited about. If Kirkman and Aldard can keep the fast pacing backed up with consistent emotional weight, The Walking Dead could be leading up to a compelling arc. Read Full Review

Walking Dead needed this issue. This is the kind of issue that keeps you guessing as you turn the pages in a way that only this series can provide. I like that there were two sets of action in this book and it is a good reminder of why I like this series so much. If you are new to this series in the last couple of years then this might be the first taste you get of the confrontations that makes this comic a great read. Read Full Review

Charlie Adlard must consider drawing these characters second nature at this point considering that he's been doing this for so many years. However, that doesn't mean that he isn't capable of surprising his fans with his incredible acting skills. Once again, the focus here is on Carl's scenes which shine through with a vicious intensity. It's a fun issue with great actions. Jesus does a wonderful job against the Whispers, and that one prisoner is sure going to reveal more secrets. Carl's character development is interesting, but didn't we already know he's a troubled kid anyway? If those kids are dead, I'm curious on how the communities are going to punish Carl. Obviously, if you're a regular reader of the comics, you have to buy this issue just to keep up with the story, but it's not the most thrilling installment. This used to be a book I HAD to read in trade format because each issue ended in such a shocking cliffhanger that I just couldn't wait a whole month to see resolved. Sadly, I no longer feel that way. Killer issue! Whisperers. Crazy Carl. Kung-fu fightn'. Nice mix of action, adventure and cliffhangers.
