The Latest Pull - Cory Robinson
May 19, 2014Kirkman does a great job introducing all of the new characters, making the reader connect with each one. I like the new characters and I already know that I will soon be extremely upset to see some of them die. This issue makes up for the anti-climactic conclusion to the last arc. While the issue is a little slow as it works to set up the new arc, it ends with a shocking conclusion which leads me to believe that some crazy shit is on the way. Read Full Review

May 17, 2014The Walking Dead #127 is back to basics, which is basically awesome. I didn't love the way the all out war ended, mainly because it felt like the war was drawn out with an anti-climatic ending. That doesn't matter, though. The war got us to a place where Rick and the living can get back to fighting the real enemy: the walkers. And with the walkers becoming public enemy #1 again, that means the horror, and everything that I loved about the series in the beginning is back to the forefront. Read Full Review

May 16, 2014The Walking Dead would not be complete without the usual twists and turns and we get one at the end (I won't spoil it for you). I will go into more detail of it next issue. I wasn't happy about the issue when I first read it, but after a couple more times I changed my mind. How could you not like this book? It has everything you could want. There are quite a few new characters plus old characters that seem to have larger roles also. It's a little too early to tell where the story is headed, but, like I said, I trust Kirkman to deliver a quality book every month. Backwards Compatible - Paul Fiander
Jul 29, 2014This is very much a sit back and look at where we are issue, it has its moments of high drama which are created as well as ever but again it's the inter-relationships between the group that make this book what it is. Some call the Walking Dead a soap Opera with Zombies and this issue does a lot to reinforce this idea. This feels like a perfect jumping on point for new readers and I would encourage anyone who is even slightly interested to jump onboard. Read Full Review

May 17, 2014Walking Dead is a great book. The old formula was to build up a storyline and then have the reader duped when they least expect it and kill off a bunch of characters. This issue pulls the rug away immediately by placing the reader ahead two years and giving them new characters to follow. This is a good read and it will be interesting to see where Kirkman takes all of this. I can't overstate that this is the issue to pick up if you are brand new to this series. Read Full Review

The major characters, for the most part get ample spotlight time and even some of the characters that have been more in the background like Heath and Aaron get some face time. The time jump gives this a fresh start, so you don't necessarily need to know everything that led to this point, but for longtime readers we get a bit of a gap that could potentially be explored in the future. It was good, but kind of boring at the start

While this issue is a great deal, having 44 pages for only $3, the content is so-so. We finally get some zombie action, but it seems like a gimmick at this point. We also spend too much time on new characters or characters we care little about. Whats really disturbing is the time-jump, considering that Kirkman once promised he would never use that 'cheap trick'. He even set it as one of his "rules" for tWD. But he has broken many rules and promises to the readers at this point. Honestly i'm on the fence, i think its a good point to break away but maybe ill switch to reading the TPBs.

The time jump is an interesting concept for the series, and it's not as far in the future as I'd expected. The massive zombie herd was a little weird. At first I thought they were intentionally rounding them up to dispose of them somehow. But apparently huge herds like this are a new thing for some reason. It's nice to see a new crop of faces, but we don't get a lot of characterization just yet. So at the moment they seem a little bland. And that pretty much sums up this issue. Kind of neat, sort of bland.
