Rick is finally getting settled into his new life. He's got a roof over his head, and a pretty secure shelter, and he's surrounded by people who he's come to know as friends. Over all, life is good, and after the last few months he's been through he welcomes this change. But things can't stay like this forever. Something bad looms just beyond the horizon. Something really bad.

Phenomenal issue from start to finish. Rick gets into a moral dilemma with one of his new friends. Can you really cure these zombies or do they all need to die. The dialogue is really well done as well as the action that comes later in the issue. I understand that the next issue will resolve an arc that has gotten better as its progressed.

The barn scene is one of those iconic Walking Dead moments that sticks with reader long after this issue has been put down. It's not just a gaggle of walkers streaming out of a barn and killing people. What makes this issue resonate so powerfully is the ideology that placed those walkers in the barn in the first place. It's easy to initially write off Hershel as completely unhinged when he admits to Rick that they keep their dead ones in the barn. But in just a few short panels and bits of dialogue later, one can completely understand (if not necessarily approve of) Hershel's reasoning in keeping the walkers locked up.
