A Comic Book Blog - Geoff Arbuckle

Finally, there's Rick. The entire issue we're seeing him as a defeated and broken man who isn't confident in his leadership or the choices he made. But in the final two panels shows him to be maybe even more the hero than we've always known. He's not done yet and he's got a new person he's trusting with some dirty work in Jesus. In two panels, the excitement for the next couple of arcs has already been planted. Read Full Review

Charlie Adlard faces a challenge in keeping the eye engaged throughout this issue when most pages feature talking heads. He manages, much as he always has during the book's many shifts between action-heavy fare and quieter, more character-driven issues. The use of light and shadow heightens the dramatic intensity in many scenes, while some really effective panel framing towards the end highlights the growing gulf between Rick and his allies. Even if our heroes aren't charging into battle right away, the book remains more interesting than it has been in a long time. Read Full Review

The last page of this comic took it from a good read to a really good read for me. This issue had no real action(physical action that is), but had tons of character development, which is probably why I'm such a fan of this story, the development Robert Kirkman puts into every issue. With so many issues under its belt, a comic series can often feel tiresome. However, because of the great character progress and plot twists that can be devastating to some fans, The Walking Dead manages to stay highly entertaining. I give this issue of The Walking Dead an 8.5/10 Read Full Review

Walking Dead is still coming down from its heart racing anniversary issue. This issue is probably going to shock some people, and perhaps not for the reasons you might guess. Rick has been a flawed, but strong hero for so long in this series and the question is open as to whether those days are over for him. This is a very good issue. Read Full Review

This issue didn't quite read how I wanted it too, but maybe Kirkman knows that this is what the reader needs, but won't realize that until the journey concludes. Read Full Review

Whatever Kirkman has planned, he needs to get on with it. Walking Dead #102 works not because anything happens, but because Kirkman pulls a masterful bait and switch. Read Full Review
