The scars brought home from war are not always visible... Plagued with flashbacks of violence and death, Johnny tries to forget visions of fire, bullets, and blood from his time in Vietnam, but the hooting calls of the Viet Kong fill his sleeping head and pour into his waking life as Bobby and The HUMANS welcome him back into the fold.

The theme may seem heavy and it can be but this is after all a book for mature readers and The Humans is not just entertainment, but moving and compelling in ways you wouldn't expect from sequential art. All the more reason to add this to your pull list. Read Full Review

I am thrilled that this book exists. It's understandable that this material may not be for everyone and the book relishes in that fact. Much like the characters it depicts, "The Humans" is exactly what it wants to be, opinions of others be damned. Though this is a continuation of a larger narrative, it's an easy jumping in point and I enthusiastically recommend "The Humans" #3. Read Full Review

Love the way that when "Mate" is used in this comic it has an apostrophe before it. A creative twist on an old word. It's little things like that that catch my eye every time I read through this series. Then there are the things that are more in-your-face. Such as Johnny eating a tarantula, watching his comrades lose their limbs and heads, not being able to enjoy the company of women or friends without seeing some disgusting version of someone who died or meant him harm. This whole series is like an acid trip in the best way possible. Read Full Review

    Bloody Disgusting - Pablo Arriaga

The coloring is what continues to deliver strongly every time, with story and pencils/inks following closely behind. Humans #3 dives into the fallout of war Johnny has to deal with. Waking up the next morning to find a blur between his present and and the past he seemingly hasn't left behind. All presented in a way that'll remind you of those good and fucking insane moments from Full Metal Jacket. Read Full Review
