The ending was OK as far as fantasy/sci-fi/horror stories go. This one couldn't bring it all together but the ending made me hopeful and intrigued in the future. I didn't see that angle coming so kudos to Kelly Thompson for that and her new ideas. She took some swings and hit some and missed some like the giant organic Voltron being saying dumb things like M-fer just took me out of it. Why is that even there? Weird choice. Also these characters need some separate opinions about choices in these stories otherwise what is done to show unison/compassion/empathy within the group feels hollow. But I see how 5 issues might not be enough to do the job. Mattia de Lulis deserves an Eisner for this art. So good in so many ways. I hope he wins. Sign m
e up for the next 5 issues as long as both creators come back. more

It was a lot of "action". Also had some cheesy moments where in cliche fashion the group gathers to do something they couldn't do alone. I really did like the visuals of the issue and was really interested in the ending. Not sure if that will ever be followed up on.

Started off interesting, the art is still great.
I am not feeling any particular way to where this story went. It lost some of its spark.

The first issue of this mini really drew me in with the promise of a Stranger Things meets Annihilation meets Cloverfield sci-fi horror story, but by the end of this week's finale issue I was left with a feeling of an unfulfilled promise. 5 issues IS NOT a lot of time to tell a story and I give Kelly Thompson a lot of credit for introducing some really fascinating concepts within this short frame of time, I just wish she had more space to flesh some of these ideas out and give them space to breath. I feel like we never really got a chance to live with this new world the main characters discovered or time to see how their new powers not only impacted their individual character developments, but the group dynamic as whole.
This final issu
e sees our crew in final battle with the monster teased in Issue #1. The fight looks beautiful thanks to De Iulis (whose art in this series has been a revelation), but it all feels a tad too rushed. Powers are kind of just summoned and shared between characters without much context.
The cliffhanger ending was frustrating and it will be made even more so if there is truly the last time we spend in this universe. Why we can't have straightforward, hard endings to some miniseries is beyond me, but I blame the publisher for that decision more than I do the creative team.
