    COMICON - Tom Smithyman

The series that made us fall in love with a sheriff named Joe Bob (as well as its creators) is finally back after a long hiatus. Don’t expect those creators to change things up too much. They are committed to telling a multi=issue story, so this initial installment is meant to be an amuse bouche. The main course is coming. Read Full Review

It might be four years between issues, but writer Chris Condon and artist Jacob Phillips have not skipped a beat with That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch. Full of familiar faces in familiar places, this new arc in the That Texas Blood series is perfect for those looking to jump into the series, but also a nod to those who have read the 20 issues prior. That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch is a fantastic return to Ambrose County that reminds us exactly why this series has been so special from the start. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Chris Coplan

After a near-four-year break, 'That Texas Blood' returns with another cutting arc in 'Hell Comes to Allison Ranch.' As much as the world of Joe Bob Coates is changing in front of our eyes, this story's magnetic charm, deliberate approach, and well of humanity remains as intense as the West Texas sun. Comic Crusaders - Al Mega

As a return to That Texas Blood, this is exactly what I wanted. The book still trusts the reader. It still understands that crime stories are about people before they are about blood on the floor, and it still has that grimy, sun-baked personality that separates it from a rack full of comics trying way too hard to look dangerous. New readers can absolutely walk in here because Condon gives you what you need without turning the issue into homework, while longtime readers get Joe Bob Coates back in his natural habitat, driving toward trouble because apparently retirement and peace were never invited to the barbecue. Wepa! The ranch is already simmering, and if this first chapter is the temperature check, somebody better keep the fire department on speed dial. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

A heist on the largest cattle ranch in the United States seems like it could be really interesting both visually and dramatically. There's a lot of foreshadowing of different things that could happen in the course of the story. It's not necessarily going to fall apart the way one might expect for a heist like this. But that's part of the fun. Heist stories have been echoing through popular fiction for decades. Even if the script doesn't necessarily play with one's expectations for this type of story the fact that it doesn't do so is also interesting. So it's a story like this could be really fun regardless of how it's executed. Read Full Review
