Comic Book Bin - Dan Horn
Jul 27, 2011Screamland presents a totally novel idea with enough heart and wit to make you sympathize and relate to its strange cast of characters. Its narrative is sincere and humanizing, its artwork a blast to pore over. Leslie's cartooning is fun and imaginative, and Mellon's work on the Invisible Man backup story is gorgeous, ingeniously unraveling panel work like so much gauze and film. This first issue does a fine job of constructing its standout premise and giving us a taste of things to come. In Screamland, Image has another all-star on its roster. Read Full Review

Apr 21, 2008Screamland's art reminds me of a more detailed version of Ben Templesmith's work (you decide if that's a good or bad thing). The cover for #1 is hilarious: Frankenstein posing as a model bare chested in Miami. The story is actually really interesting, too. Growing up watching the monsters movies on Saturday nights, I always wondered what they'd be up to now, even if it's another medium. I also think it was a smart choice focusing on one monster story per issue. Hopefully, they'll start the movie before the comic ends! Read Full Review

Jan 07, 2008While its a nice-looking story, and a good concept, this first issue seems a bit slight. We really only get an introduction to the character, and a brief setup to the story. The series will be five issues long, so, like many comics stories these days, it might be better to read in a collected form. But it seems like it will be a good series with some really pretty art, so it will probably be worth reading in one form or another. Ill take what I can until Frankenstein goes out of fashion again. Jun 06, 2011This issue sets up a murder mystery plot that should work very well with the diverse cast of monsters and the darkly comic tone. Theres a lot to get me interested in this series and I look forward to the next issue. Read Full Review

Jun 11, 2011A cool, hip and different take on an "After the Glory" tale. It could have moved a little faster, but I'm definitely interested in the second issue. Read Full Review
