Thompson heads a remarkably tight narrative package that works quite a bit better than most of the rest of whats been on the mainstream comics rack this summer. The fact that shes able to weave together a lot of subtlety and nuance while delivering a very well-executed action story that also fits into a larger comic book universe is really, really impressive. Its too bad Thompsons run with Scarlett is only going to last for one more issue. Heading into the final moments, Shana OHara makes one last play to finish her story. Thompson crafts a long awaited payoff in-between chaos with the writing. Ferrari, Loughridge and Wooten construct fantastic combat sequences along with delving into the personal drama unfolding. Readers are led into the finale with very high hopes. Read Full Review

SCARLETT #4 is an oddly paced and ultimately disappointing issue. Kelly Thompson's big reveal about the secret weapon lands with a thud, and the penultimate issue appears to be setting the plot up such that Scarlett won't accomplish any of her objectives. Honest this was rough. Too much exposition and what is that relationship between Jinx and Scarlett? Is that really the time to be talking? This felt like a serious conversation just jammed in an action sequence totally derailing the high octane action which was great. Lastly, they are suppose to be 'sisters' (as Kelly said in an interview), but this relationships is starting to ride the line of weird 'sibling' relationships.
