Jun 27, 2018Overall, this was a fantastic issue. I don't feel like any time was wasted, and I can see how the previous issues led up to the events in this one. If you haven't caught up yet, or if you wait for the trade paperback to come out, there is only one more issue before Volume 9 comes out, so definitely pick that up. Read Full Review

Techaeris - Jason Falter
Jun 28, 2018The thing about Saga is that at the end of each book, I truly want more. If you start at the beginning, these characters feel like family. When something bad happens to them, you feel it. When they celebrate the good times, it brings a smile to your face. It's really the only comic book that I've ever read that feels like it is pretty much perfect with every issue. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth
Jul 02, 2018Saga has always been a book with a simpatico between its creators that is unparalleled in this industry, and this issue is all the better because of it. Vaughan and Staples work together so well, first lulling the reader into thinking things are going to go one way then violently turning the wheel, sending the story down another path. This installment brings the danger back to Saga and its wonderful. The book has needed this shot in the arm for a while and Vaughan and Staples administer it perfectly. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder
Jun 27, 2018Next issue is the quote unquote season finale. I am currently exceedingly stressed out that I have to wait another month to see how this all wraps up. This arc has been harrowing every step of the way, and there are only so many ways that I can say Saga is going down in the history books as one of the greatest stories in any medium. But Vaughan and Staples continue to show the fuck off. Read Full Review

Jun 28, 2018Saga continues to give us another thrilling issue with political comments, some good laughs, intense moments (sometimes sexual), and most of all. A world with a group of characters that you can't help but fall in love with which is what makes every issue difficult to read as you wait to see what will happen to any one of them. Read Full Review

Jun 30, 2018Saga #53 is another brilliant and compelling issue from one of Images best books. The characters keep you engaged, the plot takes some nice twists, the finale left me truly shocked, and the artwork is beautiful. This long-running series earns itself yet another recommendation. Give this one a read. Read Full Review

Jul 02, 2018This issue is wrenching and beautiful: the writing is heartbreaking, but undermined by one terrible flaw. Read Full Review
