Despite feeling like too much too soon, the creative team do a fabulous job of introducing us to Josh and the mysterious family that's turned his life upside down, with there being plenty to leave readers returning for more. Overall, Sacred Creatures suffers from too much structure and not enough content " be it character development, focused dialogue or an art style that can support an intricate plot, there needs to be a focal point to draw from as bedrock to your concept. And the divinity narrative has been done so often, and so well, you need to find an "in" that's unique enough to hang your story on. What is up with the bad reviews? I thought this issue was great. It's like 70 pages straight with no ads. The artwork is really good. Clean lines juxtiposed against filtered photo backgrounds. It's pretty neat. This Josh kid is getting screwed with big time. I can't wait to see what happens. Solid first issue.

At its heart Sacred Creatures is a dark murder mystery. The "family" intrigued me more than anything. Have a theory of who they are. Will be adding this to my pull. POSSIBLE SPOILER / THEORY I believe each member of the family is one of the Seven Deadly sins. Old lady = Sloth, Woman eating chocolate = Gluttony , other lady in bar = Lust. I can't pin the others down yet.

Cross Black Monday Murders with Kill or Be Killed with a dash of The Omen and you get this book. Not bad, but not great.
