Jul 09, 2014As far as all-ages stories go, few comics on the shelves currently exhibit the promise that Rise of the Magi does. Each issue thus far has propelled the story forward at as fast a click as possible without sacrificing any essential narrative elements. That all three books issues #0, #1 and, now, #2 all close out with gangbuster cliffhangers only goes to further show how on top of their game Silvestri and co. currently are. Read Full Review

Comicosity - Jordan Jennings
Jul 14, 2014Overall, Rise of Magi #2 continues the fun mystical ride of the first two issues as it finally enters into the real world. Consequences are beginning to be established along with mystery and intrigue. The art is fun and highly animated but over worked at times. It does not hurt the book but it does not help it. The book continues to set up an intriguing story that promises to be enjoyable. Read Full Review

Sometimes I think that Silvestri may be getting too caught up in making something fast for the sake of selling its movie rights than he is in writing a story that entertains and succeeds as a comic book. The story continues to be intriguing enough to warrant my keeping it on my pull list. New stock characters are being introduced, I just hope Silvestri develops them well enough in future issues. The art continues to be pleasing, I liked it better than in the first issue for some reason. Worth a read if you like fantasy stories.
