RETCON #1 is an imaginative, trippy new military fantasy from Image Comics. While some of the promised plot lines aren't fully explored in this issue, the stellar art style and interesting characters make me want to stick with this story into this future. Read Full Review

Final Verdict 8.1 - A promisingly insane opening chapter to a psychedelic, self-aware roller-coaster. Read Full Review

Still, with a unique twist on an all-too-familiar gimmick, the sublime art, and the fantastical elements that pepper its world, Retcon holds a promising future " one that could very well live up to the high expectations it has already set for itself. Read Full Review

Ret:Con is not perfect, but it is worth keeping your eye on. Take a break from predictable corporate comics and their over-hyped events, and check out this and other offerings from 133art Publishing here. Read Full Review

I can't say that I like this. I also can't say I hate it because it's just so difficult to decide what's going on. Read Full Review

    Kabooooom - Matt Morrison

Retcon #1 fails to be "all-new" or "all-different", delivering more of the same tired covert superheroic schlock. The artwork is messy, the story mediocre and there's no sign of the big idea promised by the sales blurb. In short, Retcon #1 needs another reboot to be worth reading. Read Full Review

    Comic Bastards - Jonathan Edwards

Based on this first issue, I don't think I can recommend Retcon. I might come back for issue #2 just to see if it does start to shake things up in a meaningful, hopefully reality-bending, way. But for now, I'd say skip it. And if you're still intrigued by the premise of a military unit for the paranormal, seriously, just go read Cry Havoc instead. It's eerily similar in that regard yet also far more fulfilling a read. Read Full Review

Retcon #1 easily ratcheted my interest in this series up a few points. Although it's still unclear how exactly how the retconning is playing out here, this comic has a lot to recommend it. Some of the complaints I've seen, that the narrative is hard to follow, are really exaggerated. The core plot is quite focused and clear, leaving some interesting questions to be picked up in future issues. The chaotic art is well-suited to the material so far. A chilling, action-packed debut!

The story was too straight forward and where is the retconning. I didn't like the art it was too rough and sketchy for me.

There is a title, and then there is a comic book. With Retcon #1, the comic book offers nothing which was advertised by the title or solicitation blurb. Our was an okay book with decent art, but the creators clearly hoped to confuse buyers to pick up the first few issues. Maybe issue 2 is different, but I'm not interested by the acid trip of #1.
