  Poseidon IX may not be the most engaging one-shots amongst these Generation IX expansions, but it still manages to entice. Having a fluid narrative with some clever twists, the creative team allow for a fabulous look into this god like being, giving greater depth to the world as a whole. Read Full Review

  Flickering Myth - Jessie Robertson

  The art is my favorite part of this book; just like with the story telling, everything about this feels like Saga-lite. A dystopian universe with strange characters, but at least the art is large in scale, while still feeling like this is a place that exists somewhere. I couldn't relate to anyone in this issue and didn't feel drawn into why I should care that there's a giant squid ready to eat every meaty gymrat filling up these pages. I love the over-arching idea of the story but the first issue doesn't draw you in on words alone; if you like the art, as I did, this isn't a bad pickup but it would have to be a slow week at the comic store for me to throw this in my want pile.   These things compound to make this one-shot feel like a B-plot of the main book, which could have been resolved in the background of another issue in a few pages. If there is a larger plan in place to use this creature as a weapon, then this will be an interesting development, but even the characters treat the threat as little more than a curiosity. With that point-of-view for readers, it's difficult to feel that this creature could be any type of difference-making macguffin down the road. "Poseidon IX" #1 is a book for readers who are looking to have a complete view of the IXth Generation universe, but new readers looking to dive into this world may want to start elsewhere first.
