Mythic #2 is a comic that has taken a step forward, but also a step backwards as well. The story improved overall, though everything still feels a bit vague. The writing is fine and the artwork looks great in general. However, the characterization is an afterthought in this issue, almost like the first one, and the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired. This is a comic that could be great with a little work, but right now it's bordering on just being okay. Hopefully there's an upswing soon. Read Full Review

Humor is definitely the strength of this comic, but the writing seems to overlook some of the important narrative to keep readers involved. McCrea's designs for the monsters are eccentric and keep the comic fresh. I was really stoked on the first issue and that carried over to the second. After reading the comic and perusing some reviews, I felt compelled to write one of my own. I'm relatively new to the comic book scene and find that I am uninterested in most of the big corporate superheroes. They all look the same, I've seen the movies, and the artwork doesn't excite me. None of these things are true with Mythic. Admittedly, the first issue felt a bit scattered and the second is only marginally better in that regard, the premise is intriguing and the characters are engaging. This last I find a bit surprising, since I know so little of them at this point. The promise of a shadowy organization of mechanical organisms who control powerful demons as a foil to the largely positive work of the protagonists... I want the ne xt issue yesterday, in spite of what I see as the flaws of the series so far. In summary, you can expect more exposition in this issue, and it moves along a bit more than the first. I'd also like to offer a critique of the critics. If you're going to post 300 words on an issue, please make them relate to each other and your final rating. And please, for the love of God, please use something approximating correct grammar and syntax. Perhaps most readers aren't as picky as I am, fair enough. However, I cannot take your review seriously when I find multiple major errors in a single paragraph. Who trusts the opinion of a literature critic who is barely literate? I've graciously omitted the name of the reviewer in the name of mercy. Please feel free to point out the inevitable spelling or grammar mistakes I've made in this post. Thank you for your time. more
