Fatale #19

Fatale is a great series. Not every issue reads individually great as they are all a part of a larger tapestry. However, this issue is simply pulse-pounding. The book is eerie and evil. The comic book leaves the reader feeling exhausted emotionally after completing this book because of the torture that Brubaker drags his cast through. Even if you aren't reading this series or aren't up on this particular arc I urge you to check this out if you like good old fashioned thrillers. Read Full Review

FATALE #19 is yet another stellar issue of a series that just doesn't quit. My only issue with the book is that we need more, but the fact that it can always leave you craving so much more is an achievement in and of itself. For a series that is a page turner like no other on the shelves, it is sad knowing we are heading into the final arc. How Brubaker will tie this mesmerizing Lovecraftian masterpiece together is anyones guess. But one thing's for certain, Jo is a character that will live long in the memory. While most works that end with the deaths of nearly all the characters usually fall into the soap opera category, Brubaker-Phillips bring enough sense and taste to give all the deaths meaning. Read Full Review

The epilogue at the end of this issue sets up the final arc quite nicely. The layers that have been built up from the first issue are now densely packed live wires ready to explode. And if the last page is any indication, it looks like Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips just set the series up for a great conclusion. Read Full Review

The whole 90s era really ends with a bang, so make sure to finish out this story line. I have said it before, but it really has been my favorite. In the next couple of issues, I am hoping the story looks into more of the cult aspect of Jo. Since her amnesia, we haven't seen so much of the religious side of the comic. I have to say this part scares but intrigues me the most. And obviously I am hoping to find more out about her, but I will not get my hopes up. Read Full Review

Fatale #19 is without a doubt a really good comic book. It comes directly from a strong creative team that knows how to crescendo their work to a proper finish, but it left me a bit underwhelmed as familiar territory is once again covered. Recommended. Read Full Review

And before coming to a close we get a big reveal in the Nelson and Nicholas Lash's storyline as Lash discovers the identity of his murderous savior whose very personal agenda doesn't necessarily involve the best outcome for his captive. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Which is to say that Fatale #19 is not a good place to jump on board. It's the end of what will be Fatale Volume #4, though even then it leaves off with a huge cliffhanger. If you haven't already, I suggest going back and reading Fatale Volumes 1-3. You won't be disappointed. Four stars for the series as a whole, though. Read Full Review

"Fatale" #19 is unsurprising in that it's rock solid and good. I'm going to be quite sad to see it go away later this year -- it's a great series -- but at the same time it feels like the book is poised to conclude on a high note. So far, so good. Read Full Review

This a beautiful, well-design book that impresses with each issue. The art may not be for some,but it is impressive, pulpy artwork for sure and the colors fit just right. While issues sometimes lag, i highly recommend this series!
