Die is at its end, but it's also a beginning because of course that's how campaigns work. The game lingers, the personas we crafted and cultivated don't quite leave us. We discovered things about ourselves and make new moves because of it. Die #20 signals the end of an era, and I want everyone to experience this story for themselves. DIE #20 is a beautiful end to a masterpiece of storytelling. Gillen, Hans, and Cowles have a generational story on their hands, and the comics world is all the richer for it. I could go on about how much I love this issue and this series as a whole. But instead, I'll just pour that inspiration into my own Tabletop RPG games. I was dragged kicking and screaming all the way through this series — I don't like Tolkien and really didn't need a story with maximum despair in the 2020's — but what an incredible ride! And they do use the despair of 2020 to extraordinary effect.

Well, they did it. They stuck the landing. This was about as close to a perfect conclusion as I could've imagined. I was a little worried after the last issue, but this final chapter provided a thoroughly satisfying end to the story. As an aside, this series boasts perhaps the best gallery of variant covers I have ever seen. What a visual feast.
