Between the emotional turmoil and the shakeups on that level, the cool poster and the always-amazing art, this is a worthwhile conclusion to a story arc that also leaves at least one enormous question mark for next arc to tackle. The conclusion is at once shocking and heartbreaking, moreso for the fact that it may be over a month before we get any kind of resolution to it. While last issue may have had some of the potency taken out, it dosent fully invalidate it as there are still incredible consequences to it and theres plenty to look forward to with whatever happens next. Chew #45 is a game-changer and one hell of a way to end the arc on. The writing is better than it has ever been, the characters and drama are strong, the ending is jaw-dropping, and the artwork is stunning like always. Just what is there left to say at this point? Despite that misstep, Chew #45 is another great installment in the series. It provides all of the twists and heartbreak of a great tragedy, without losing the wacky, comedic tone that defines the series. In a lot of ways, the last issue of Chew was the real conclusion to the "Chicken Tenders" arc, with this being a haunting epilogue to the carnage of the previous issue. After all that action, Layman's made the right call by giving us a quiet moment to feel - and to mourn. And with a shocking twist on the final page, this arc looks to be the one that will inspire Tony Chu to take the fight back to the Collector. Coming after the holidays with a bleak finale, it seems that even with the increased body count, Layman and Guillory are giving us plenty to be thankful for with Chew #45. Read Full Review

"Chew" #45 concludes the weirdly appropriately named "Chicken Tenders" arc. All the drama and heightened emotions have shone an even stronger spotlight on the relationships between the characters. There's been a lot of tenderness within all the meaty developments, and this will only whet readers' appetites for more, even if they haven't yet recovered from the end of this last meal. Great art as usual and good writing (although not my favorite of recent issues) The big news here is the last page. Huge event. Looking forward to seeing what it's all about.
