Mythological deaths in a sleepy small town, without a doubt you've come across something similar many times before, and there's a reason for this. When written by a confident, well versed hand, it can culminate in some of the greatest suspense stories around. The mystery lying within these thirty pages provides a fast paced and intriguing piece of pulp fiction that does not rely on extensive knowledge of the canon that precedes it. Old friends of Mulder and Scully will feel right at home with the snappy word play between the two, while newcomers can find amusement as they get to know the agents. If Harris and Scott continue in this fashion, The X Files Season Ten has the potential to become a true classic for IDW, and bring a long awaited rejuvenation for the groundbreaking series. IDW have really got something special with this run of The X-Files. The shows finale left a lot to be desired and these comics, while being a direct continuation of it, feels much more like the classic era of the series. Great stuff. Read Full Review

Everything else that works about this series is still working. Namely the character voices are spot on. Harris really understands the dynamic between Mulder and Scully and the humor of the X-Files comes through in droves. This issue is a lot of fun, and might just chill you to your core. It should also be noted that even the worst X-Files issue from Joe Harris (of which this definitely qualifies for consideration) is still not completely terrible. But he's proven on plenty other occasions to be capable of so much more. Read Full Review

The plot was sufficiently creepy, true to X-Files form. The writing was suspenseful, but the pacing felt a little bit off. The ending was slightly abrupt, and I'm not sure if the story-line is continuing or not (but I guess that's kind of part of the fun). I miss Walsh's art, but Scott's work was pretty solid, so no real complaints there! All around strong issue.
