Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Universe #21

The main story was some fantastic storytelling by Paul Allor. He made the political negotiations between the Utroms and Triceratons very engaging and dramatic. Mark Torres and Ronda Pattison delivered some wonderfully detailed art as well. The backup story was the perfect complement to the dramatic main story, as Woody got the spotlight to deliver some pizzas! Out of 5 stars I give it a 3.5. It is a tough and complicated story that Allor has undertaken but the payoff could be huge. Even though it took quite a license with reality, I am high on the story and the interior art. The story as a whole was great but the lettering in the beginning was a little off-putting and probably could have been illustrated better. The story will be of interest to anyone following the Turtles saga, but watching these aliens try to hammer out the logistics of cohabitation isn't the most exciting Turtles adventure ever. Read Full Review

Paul Allor is a competent TMNT writer, Mark Torres provides solid art. i really liked that the story got moving without wasting too much time on set-up. Donatello got a decent intro, and had some ok moments. even the back-up story was fun. the biggest problem with this issue is what came before it. the Triceratons were crammed into this series at the 11th hour. they have a big invasion story that ended on a fizzle. now they are pretty much shelved characters. did we really even need the Triceratons in the IDW universe to begin with?
